Project management in the construction industry is an extremely important factor in the success of projects. It includes managing several aspects of the project; most importantly cost, time, and quality. Interestingly, all these aspects are inter-related.
Time management includes two basic components: First, the preparation of a schedule that describes when each activity will start and finish. The approved schedule represents the baseline for monitoring and controlling the project while being executed, which is the second part of time management.
Starting with a well-prepared schedule is of utmost importance. It is the tool that we use to measure actual performance. It is also a legal document that is part of the contract between the owner and the contractor. It may be used later on to prove or disprove a delay claim.

His career has been very interesting and panoramic. Dr. Saleh Mubarak started as a civil engineer, switched to structural design, then project / construction management. Between academics and industry, his professional career spans over 23 years. In addition to his academic work (teaching and research), he worked in the construction industry; the private and public sectors, and also as a private consultant. He wrote two popular books (Construction Project Scheduling & Control) and (How to Estimate with RS Means Data and CostWorks). He is active in teaching seminars and workshops. He is getting more and more interested in "life management" including many related soft skills, particularly Emotional Intelligence.
